Maniax Coach Released..

June 01, 2010 By MM
The Modesto Maniax coaching staff changes immediately, as Head Coach, Jeff Watson, was released from his duties as head coach.

Coach Watson's  "increased work load" was a main factor in this decision, Jeff's job changed, and he just didn't have enough time left in his days for coaching the Maniax.  "We love him, he is one of my oldest, closest friends, and like an older brother to me." said Aaron Goodwin on Tuesday.. "We get it!  Jobs are important and we dont want to impose, we've had a lot of Coach Watson's time this year and last...  He drives a lot more now for work than he did in the beginning of the season.  We will move forward with the program he so passionately started here for our Maniax.

"We won't forget it, we wish Jeff well!"  I'll still be seein him on Sunday mornings, like we do, we'll move forward."  Aaron Goodwin continued, "We had a five year plan with Coach Watson, and recently those days away from us had grown, with the numerous hours being spent at the practice facility, change happens, we will adjust..

With the exit of Watson, the Maniax also say goodbye to Offensive Coach, Matt Sickler and backs and receivers coaches, Wallace and Steele or apparently resigned after hearing of Watson's termination.

"The Maniax offense needs an overhaul.  We will fix this offensive thing, we will hire a proven, winning coach to take that offense to where it needs to be.. "  The offensive numbers for 2010 are dismal..  That is our first order of business, fixing that says Dineen Goodwin Owner of the Maniax..

In the interim, defensive coach Tony Cotta will handle the rest of the year as head coach.  We will hire more coaches, and decide on who will lead us into 2011, at a later date..  We will continue to move forward impoving, on both sides of the ball, in this league, that can take time..
